avenida da liberdade is an elegant boulevard with fountains, outdoor cafés and shops, located in lisbon's historic centre, so there are several points of interest around here.

Kiosk cafés

Already a symbol of Avenida, these pleasant outdoor cafés are the best place to relax a bit and eat something or have a drink. Some of them even have live music.

Shopping

If you're into upscale shopping you've come to the right place. Avenida is known for its top-notch brands.

Funiculars

Both sides of the avenue have beautiful funiculars. Elevador do Lavra will take you to lovely Jardim do Torel, which has a terrace café with a view. Elevador da Glória takes you to Bairro Alto and S. Pedro de Alcântara's miradouro (belvedere).

Rooftop bars

You have gorgeous rooftop bars in Avenida and around, like Sky Bar at Hotel Tivoli.

Estação do Rossio

Rossio train station is an example of the beautiful buildings you can find around Avenida. And it's where you can get the train to Sintra. It's only 10 minutes walking from our apartments.

Ice cream stores

"A Veneziana", next to Rossio train station, and "Santini", in Chiado, are two great places to eat an ice cream. Both of them are at walking distance from Liberdade 158.

Botanical Garden                       & Cold House

These two green zones are true oasis of tranquility, just next to Avenida. The Botanical Garden is one of the best in Europe due to its subtropical flora and it's excellent for a stroll. The Cold House, in Parque Eduardo VII, is a wonderful greenhouse with plants from all over the world, lakes, brooks, waterfalls and statues.

Cinemateca, Hot Clube & Ginjinha Sem Rival

Other places of interest nearby include Cinemateca, at Rua Barata Salgueiro, with several film series and continuous sessions from monday to saturday. For some jazz visit one of the oldest clubs in Europe, Hot Clube de Portugal, at Praça da Alegria. And enjoy typical drink "ginjinha" at Ginjinha Sem Rival on Rua das Portas de Santo Antão.

Marchas populares

The most typical event in Lisbon takes place at Avenida! The Popular Saints parade occurs on the night of June 12th. And we're on the right place to watch it!

also, avenida is the backbone of lisbon and is precisely in the middle of the old district, dividing it into two halves, so from here you can easily get to castelo de s. jorge, rossio, chiado, tago's riverside, bairro alto, mouraria, etc.
